Sarah’s Hope is one program under many with St. Vincent de Paul located in the Sandtown-Winchester area of Baltimore City. It services formally homeless woman and children by providing temporary shelter, strengthening family units by providing meals, parenting skills and assistance in finding employment and permanent housing. Volunteers are needed any day of the week to provide and serve breakfast, lunch or dinner. Also needed are volunteers to teach parenting classes, and provide entertainment for the children. This is a new shelter so the needs are great, making it very accommodating and flexible for the volunteers.
Prepared dinners (brought in either hot or frozen) and 3-5 volunteers to help serve the dinner (5:30-7:15 pm, including clean up and set up) are needed for:
Friday, March 6, Sat. March 7, Friday, March 13, Sunday March 15, Tuesday, March 17, Sat. March 21, Friday, March 27, Sat. April 4, Sun. April 5, Friday, April 10, Sat. April 11
Lunch 2-3 volunteers are needed to help serve lunch each Wednesday from noon to 1 pm during Lent.
Bag lunches can be used at any point, but are especially needed on weekends.
Life skills and parenting classes require an 8-hour time commitment from 1-2 teachers. The scheduling can be based on the volunteer(s)' individual schedules.
